SERVICES FAQ

Questions about working together?

Clear expectations on scope, turnaround, pricing, and what we’ll need from you. If your situation is unique, send a note—Erik will respond with the best next step.

Q-01

What services do you offer for individuals and small businesses?

Most clients hire Erik for tax preparation and filing, proactive tax planning, and small business support like bookkeeping and payroll coordination. Engagements can be one-time (e.g., a return or clean-up) or ongoing (monthly bookkeeping and quarterly planning) depending on how hands-on you want to be.

Q-02

Do you take over bookkeeping, or work with my current setup?

Either works. If you already use accounting software and have a process in place, Erik will work within your current setup and tighten what’s needed (chart of accounts, categorization rules, reconciliations, reporting). If you’re starting from scratch or cleaning up a messy year, he can help standardize the workflow so your books stay accurate month to month.

Q-03

How do fees work—hourly, fixed, or monthly?

Fees are based on scope. Straightforward tax returns and defined projects are typically quoted as a fixed fee. Ongoing bookkeeping, payroll support, and advisory are usually monthly. You’ll get a clear estimate before work begins, and any out-of-scope requests are confirmed in writing so there are no surprises.

Q-04

What do you need from me to get started?

To begin, you’ll complete a short intake and share prior-year returns (if available), entity details, and access to relevant records—income statements, bank/credit card statements, and payroll summaries. If you use QuickBooks or another platform, access can be granted securely. Erik will outline exactly what’s needed based on your service mix.

Q-05

How far in advance should we start tax planning?

Earlier is better—ideally before year-end—so there’s time to make real moves (estimated taxes, retirement contributions, entity decisions, payroll adjustments, and deductions). That said, planning can still be valuable at any point in the year, especially after a jump in income, a new business launch, or a major life change.
